What Campers Will Experience with the Horses
At our camp, horses are at the heart of everything we do. Campers will spend time with horses both in the saddle and on the ground, learning a variety of equestrian skills and fostering a strong bond with these incredible animals. Here’s a breakdown of what campers will do with the horses:
🐴 Daily Riding Sessions:
Campers will ride one at two times a day, with a mix of group and one-on-one instruction. Activities during these sessions include:
- Arena exercises: Riders will work on improving balance, control, and precision in the arena. We’ll focus on skills like steering, control, proper use of reins, and aids.
- Trail rides: Campers will have the opportunity to take their horses on scenic trail rides, developing confidence riding in open areas and learning to navigate different terrains.
- Bareback riding: A fun and challenging activity that improves balance and connection with the horse. Bareback riding helps riders develop a strong seat and feel for the horse’s movements.
- Obstacle courses: Riders will guide their horses through various obstacles, learning communication and teamwork while building confidence in the saddle.
🐴 Groundwork & Horse Care:
In addition to riding, campers will spend time working with horses from the ground, building trust and communication. Activities include:
- Grooming & tacking up: Campers will learn how to properly groom a horse before riding and how to tack them up safely. This teaches care and respect for the animals while fostering independence.
- Groundwork exercises: These exercises help riders establish a strong relationship with the horse, focusing on leading, lunging, and building trust. Campers will practice these exercises to enhance their connection with their horse and improve their horsemanship.
- Feeding and daily care routines: Campers will gain hands-on experience in caring for horses by learning the basics of feeding, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the horses.
🛠 Special Horse Care Workshops:
Campers will also take part in workshops focusing on essential horse care techniques:
- Horse health & first aid: Campers will learn basic first aid and how to care for minor injuries or illnesses that may affect the horses.
- Hoof care: Understanding the importance of horse hooves and learning how to check, clean, and care for them.
- And much more !
🤝 Developing Leadership & Connection:
Working with horses goes beyond riding and grooming—it’s about building a mutual respect and partnership. Campers will learn to:
- Communicate effectively with their horse, using body language and subtle cues to guide and direct them.
- Develop patience and empathy as they build trust with the horses, working through challenges and learning to understand the horse’s perspective.
- Strengthen their leadership skills by taking responsibility for their horse's well-being and practicing teamwork with fellow campers.

I’m gonna give you some feedback on hay net, it is lovely. It’s been through four bales now and doesn’t have a hole in it whatsoever. Love it.In the last few years of buying hay net this is honestly the best one we’ve ever had.

We love our hay nets from you guys! It's the first one they haven't eaten a hole through. I will be ordering more shortly.

The rings on the stall nets, make it so easy to fill the nets and to find the opening, which is a huge +, as I used to lose a lot of time to fill nets but not anymore.
The large ring on the bottom is super helpful as well. Matter’s hay nets are my favourite nets.

I have a boarding facility and tried all the brand out there. These nets are the best by far and very reasonable price. I bought my first net 2 years ago, still in great condition. Thanks Sophie for the great service 👍
